Resumen
Non-contact metrology is being used to accelerate and improve the gear inspection process by obtaining a large amount of information on the gear tooth surfaces in form of point clouds for all teeth of the to-be-inspected gears. A new approach for tooth contact analysis and stress analysis of cylindrical gears reconstructed from point clouds is proposed in this work. It considers a whole revolution of the being-inspected pinion in mesh with a master gear to evaluate the influence of the deviations presented in all the teeth of the first in terms of contact patterns and loaded functions of transmission errors. The approach is validated throughout the generation of computationally generated point clouds whose points are obtained theoretically by the application of the modern theory of gearing. The results are then compared with those obtained with measured point clouds from manufactured gears. The application of the proposed approach to a pair of gears shows the necessity to apply a filtering ...
