%X [SPA] La remodelación de la Plaza de San Francisco, en el centro urbano de Cartagena (España), resultó ser la oportunidad para materializar una experiencia singular, no prevista en proyecto original, sobre el arbolado monumental (Ficus macrophylla) de ese espacio urbano histórico. Se describen los resultados de las intervenciones realizadas para mejorar su estabilidad estructural mediante consolidación no artificial, potenciando el crecimiento de sus raíces adventicias, hasta convertirlas en los pilares necesarios que aseguren un desarrollo proporcional controlado y la longevidad de los ejemplares, evitando artificios y podas innecesarias.
[ENG] The renewal of the Plaza de San Francisco, in the city center of Cartagena (Spain), proved to be the opportunity to carry out a singular experience, not foreseen in the original project, on the monumental trees (Ficus macrophylla) in this historic urban space. The results of interventions to improve structural stability by means of non-artificial consolidation are described, promoting the growth of its adventitious roots, until they become the pillars necessary to ensure a proportional development controlled and the longevity of specimens, avoiding unnecessary structures and avoiding excessive pruning events.
