Abstract
[ENG]epoxy resin. We used an accelerated immersion test technique in an aqueous
medium containing 30 g/L of sodium chloride, in order to resemble sea water
conditions.
The first step in the elaboration of the specimens consisted in cleaning up the
AISI 1015 steel substrates and the subsequent preparation of thin films of epoxy
resin through a commercial pre-polymer and hardener mixture known as Ampreg
22. Some of the total specimens were modified with ionic liquid (1-octyl-3-
methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate) in different compositions (4%, 9% and
12%), in order to compare the resistance of the test pieces to corrosion with and
without the addition of this element.
With the purpose of accelerating the tests and to obtaining information on the
behavior of the films, the accelerated cyclic electrochemical technique (ACET)
was used, which allows, in a 24-hour period, the reproduction of the long-term
behavior of the film in a classical immersion test by implementing electri ...
