AB - [SPA]Objetivo: El objeto de este estudio es establecer qué técnica es más eficaz para disminuir
la presencia de los contaminantes emergentes de las aguas residuales. En segundo lugar,
estudiar el impacto que causan los contaminantes emergentes en la salud humana y en
el medio ambiente.
Método: Para alcanzar los objetivos anteriores se realizó una búsqueda en las siguientes
bases de datos: Scopus Pubmed, Google Scholar y Science Directs, filtrando aquellos
artículos desde el año 2017 hasta la actualidad y que estuvieran dentro del ámbito
medioambiental.
Resultados: Se recopilaron un total de 44 estudios acerca de las técnicas más
frecuentemente usadas en la degradación de los contaminantes emergentes. Así mismo,
se estudió la ecotoxicidad de los contaminantes emergentes en el medio acuático y sus
efectos sobre la salud.
Conclusiones: los procesos de oxidación avanzada y la ósmosis son las técnicas más
eficaces para eliminar los contaminantes emergentes, siendo los productos
farmacéuticos los más frecuentes en aguas residuales, así como los más dañinos.

reducing the presence of emerging pollutants in wastewater. Secondly, to study the
impact of emerging pollutants on human health and the environment.
Method: To achieve the above objectives, a search was carried out in the following
databases: Scopus Pubmed, Google Scholar and Science Directs, filtering those articles
from 2017 to the present that were within the environmental field.
Results: A total of 44 studies were collected on the most frequently used techniques in
the degradation of emerging pollutants. The ecotoxicity of emerging pollutants in the
aquatic environment and their effects on health were also studied.

Conclusions: Advanced oxidation processes and osmosis are the most effective
techniques for the removal of emerging pollutants, with pharmaceuticals being the most
frequent in wastewater, as well as the most harmful.
