En el año 1883 salió publicado en París el libro del ingeniero civil Auguste Choisy titulado 
“L’art de bâtir chez les Byzantins”, cuya traducción al castellano es “El arte de construir en 
Bizancio”. Choisy, cansado del aspecto formal con el que se había estudiado casi de forma 
exclusiva la arquitectura a lo largo de la historia decide centrarse en las técnicas y sistemas 
constructivos de la época bizantina, explicándolos de forma muy ilustrativa a través de sus 
dibujos. Al final del libro se recogían una serie de láminas con representaciones de diferentes 
elementos  de  la  arquitectura  de  época  bizantina,  tales  como  arcos,  bóvedas,  cúpulas  y 
escaleras, entre otros. Todos ellos representados a través del sistema axonométrico con gran 
rigor y carácter explicativo y divulgativo. Un buen número de investigadores han analizado 
los  sistemas  y  elementos  constructivos  del  libro,  tanto  a  nivel  formal  como  técnico;  sin 
embargo, nunca se ha prestado especial atención a las perspectivas en particular. En vista de 
ello,  el  presente  trabajo  se  propone  avanzar  en  el  conocimiento  de  los  dibujos  de  Choisy 
incluidos en el libro «L'art de bâtir chez les Byzantins», analizando los tipos de axonometrías 
empleadas y sus características. [Eng]«Les édifices de l’antiquité on eté bien des fois décrits au point de vue de l’archiecture, mais

In 1883 the book writen by the civil engineer Auguste Choisy was published in Paris entitled 
"L’art de bâtir chez les Byzantins”. Choisy, tired of the formal aspect with which architecture 
had been studied almost exclusively throughout history, decides to focus on the techniques 
and  construction  systems  of  the  byzantine  period,  explaining  it  in  a  very  illustrative  way 
through his drawings. His original book compiled at the end of it a series of prints where he 
collected  different  elements  of  the  byzantine  architecture,  such  as  arches,  vaults,  domes, 
stairs,  etc.  All  of  them  represented  through  the  axonometric  system  with  a great  accuracy 
and exactitude, and an explanatory and informative nature. Many researchers have analysed 
and studied the constructive systems and elements of the book, always from a technical point 
of view rather than a formal perspective; however, special attention has never been paid to 
the perspectives of the book. That is the reason why the present work aims to advance in the 
knowledge of the drawings included in «L'art de bâtir chez les Byzantins», analyzing the types 
of axonometric used and its characteristics
