La capilla de la Virgen del Alcázar en San Patricio de Lorca. Experimentación geométrica en la arquitectura renacentista del sur de España

Abstract

[ES] En el sur de la Península Ibérica se construyeron a lo largo del siglo XVI varias bóvedas tóricas singulares. Una de ellas, la que cubre la capilla de la Virgen del Alcázar en San Patricio de Lorca, presenta irregularidades aparentes en la distribución de sus nervios, lo que hace dudar de la naturaleza geométrica de la superficie. Los autores han practicado un levantamiento riguroso de la pieza mediante escáner láser 3D y fotogrametría de imágenes cruzadas, lo que ha permitido llegar a una conclusión inesperada. La bóveda está formada por dos partes, para adaptarla a un esviaje preexistente. Una de estas secciones es tórica y la otra no, pero ambas son geométricamente coherentes; los desajustes entre los nervios de una y otra se deben a esta circunstancia y no se apreciarían si ambas porciones no estuvieran yuxtapuestas. [EN] A number of peculiar thorus vaults were built in southern Spain during the 16th century. One of these vaults, over the chapel of the Virgin of the Alcázar in the church of San Patricio in Lorca, shows at first sight an irregular rib layout; this fact makes the thorus nature of the intrados surface uncertain. The authors have carried on a survey of this member using 3D laser scanning and multi-image photogrammetry. This has led to an unexpected conclusion. The vault is built in two sections, in order to fit a preexistent skew plan.The intrados of one of these portions is a torus surface, while the other one is not. However, both parts are geometrically consistent. The apparent irregularities arise from these design choices and would not have shown if both portions were not placed one beside the other.
