Auge y abandono de las grandes estaciones europeas y su transformación con la llegada de la alta velocidad

[SPA] La aparición del ferrocarril en la primera mitad del siglo XIX transformó Europa y sus ciudades, donde surgieron grandes estaciones de viajeros que mostraban el poderío de las diferentes compañías ferroviarias. Más tarde, con la popularización del avión y del coche, se inició una etapa de decadencia para el ferrocarril que supuso el abandono, o incluso la demolición, de estaciones históricas. Con la llegada del tren de alta velocidad en las últimas décadas del siglo XX, la necesidad de adaptación de estas grandes estaciones, junto con el interés en poner en valor su arquitectura y su entorno urbano, ha hecho que se lleven a cabo importantes transformaciones. [ENG] The emergence of the railway in the first half of the 19th century transformed Europe and its cities, where great passenger stations appeared to show the strength of the different railway companies. Later, with the popularization of the plane and the car, a period of decline started which brought the abandonment, or even the demolition, of historical stations. With the arrival of the high-speed rail in the last few decades of the 20th century, the need for adaptation of these great stations, together with the interest in enhancing the historical buildings and their central locations, has resulted in important transformations.
