El turismo del Mar Menor: predominio de la segunda residencia

Abstract

[SPA] El Mar Menor por sus singularidades, tamaño de oferta y demanda e impacto económico sobre los municipios de la zona es, sin duda, el destino turístico más importante de la Región de Murcia. En este trabajo se analizan, desde los datos obtenidos por el observatorio turístico del Mar Menor durante los años 2000 y 2001, su oferta y demanda turística. Así el análisis de demanda, y dado el predominio del alojamiento en segunda residencia, permite adentrarnos en las características, viabilidad y tendencias de este tipo de turismo. Adicionalmente, el turismo alojado en establecimientos turístico ha sido también objeto de análisis diferenciado precisamente cuando se analiza la oferta (distribución, ocupación, etc.). Simultáneamente, se divide el Mar Menor en dos zonas (La Manga y el litoral interior) dado que existen diferencias sustanciales entre las dos zonas consideradas tanto en lo referente a la distribución y características de la demanda como de la oferta. An analysis of tourism topics, supply and demand sides, has been done through the use of data surveys, collected by a local tourist research group during the years 2000 and 2001. The demand side analysis of this paper is very influenced by the preponderance of the second residence and this particularity of the Mar Menor tourism allows us to show the main characteristics, viability and trends regarding this specific demand at the Mediterranean Spanish coast. Additionally, the analysis of tourist host at the official supply (hotels, apartments, campings, etc.) has been done just when the supply study is developed. Finally, the Mar Menor has been divided into two areas (La Manga and the interior littoral), given the differences and particularities of the two areas when we consider supply and demand topics.
