Se describen lasprincipales característicasdeeste tipo de sistemasy dela organización dela industria de  pagos  móviles.Adicionalmente,  se  revisan  los  principales  datos  referentes  a  la implantación de estos servicios, con atención especial al mercado chino, donde tiene un elevado grado de aceptación por los consumidores. Por último, se estudian dos plataformas de pagos móviles(PayPal y Alipay) [ENG]This paper analyzes mobile payment systems, that is, platforms that allow payments to be made through any mobile device (smartphones, tablets, etc.) without the need to use cash or credit/debit cards. The main characteristics of this type of system and the organization  of  the  mobile  payment  industry  are  described.  Additionally,  the  main data  regarding  the  implementation  of  these  services  are  reviewed,  with  special attention  to  the  Chinese  market,  where theyhave  achieveda  high  degree  of acceptance by consumers. Finally, two mobile payment platforms are studied (PayPal and Alipay)
