%X [ESP] La configuración de la plaza Belluga y del resto de los espacios que rodean la Catedral de Murcia, ha
venido marcada por el protagonismo que en ellos tiene el conjunto catedralicio. A lo largo del siglo
XX, estos espacios han sido objeto de transformaciones que a veces quedaron sólo en intención y
que por la significación que tienen en el carácter y la fisonomía de la ciudad han tenido una fuerte
contestación social y han sido objeto de intensos debates, tanto por las propuestas presentadas
como por los procedimientos que se establecieron para su ejecución. Sin embargo, cuando se materializaron
dichas propuestas y transformaciones definitivas apenas sí se tuvo en cuenta la premisa
de que se trataba de actuaciones en el entorno de un Bien Patrimonial, lo que es comprensible en
los trabajos efectuados a mitad de siglo, pero no tanto en la última y definitiva remodelación, cuyo
complicado desarrollo deja patente cuánto es necesario que se establezcan nuevos criterios para
este tipo de intervenciones. [ENG] The setup of the Belluga Square and the surrounding spaces of Murcia Cathedral, have been determined
by the prominence of the cathedral complex. Throughout the twentieth century, these
areas have undergone transformations, sometimes left just in an intention, and because of the
significance they have on the character and appearance of the city, they have caused a strong social
protest and have been intensively discussed, as much as for the submitted proposals as for the
procedures established for its implementation. However, once these proposals and final transformations
were made, the premise that it was a performance in the environment of a cultural heritage
asset was scarcely taken into account, which is understandable when talking about the works that
were carried out in the mid-century, but not so in the last and final remodeling, whose complicated
development makes clear how necessary it is to establish new criteria for such kind of interventions.
