%X [Esp]El territorio murciano ha sido siempre un entorno
esencialmente rural, basado en el regadío, siguiendo el
sistema musulmán de acequias. Desde el siglo XV estas
grandes extensiones de terreno cultivable fueron
explotadas en grandes fincas en torno a una residencia
principal. En esta casa noble vivía la familia en posesión
de dichos terrenos. Estas viviendas eran las llamadas
casas-torre, casas grandes o casonas, y eran el centro
neurálgico de la explotación. En ellas se guardaba la
cosecha, se criaba al gusano de la seda, y era donde se
refugiaban los huertanos en caso de inundaciones o
saqueos. Alrededor de estas casas-torre se desarrollaba
toda la vida de la comarca, y es en torno a ellas donde se
hacían los caminos y veredas que comunicaban los
distintos núcleos de población. Además, es alrededor de
estas casonas donde se levantaban las barracas y todos
los servicios necesarios para las personas que ahí
trabajaban.
Hoy día estas importantes construcciones están en un
estado total de abandono, si no han sido derruidas legal o
ilegalmente. El objetivo es realizar una serie de
documentos que permitan conocer más en profundidad
esta tipología arquitectónica, y que el material tanto
técnico como gráfico pervivan en caso de la desaparición
de alguna de las casonas aquí recogidas. [Eng]The territory of Murcia has always been a rural area,
based on irrigation and following the Muslim system of
ditches. From the 15th century onwards, these vast
farming lands were exploited around big parcels in which
there was the main residence of the landlord. These
residences were called Tower-houses or mansions, and
they were the nerve center of said exploitation. Crops
were stored and kept in there, silk-worms were raised
and farmed and peasants used them as refuge during
floods or attacks. Life in the area was developed around
these Tower-houses, as well as the roads and sidewalks
that communicated different communities were created
based on such mansions. Moreover, barracks were built
around them, along with all of the needed services and
facilities for all the workers.
Nowadays the Tower-houses are in a state of complete
abandonment, if the haven‟t been wrecked, legal or
illegally. The main goal is to carry out a series of
documents that allow a deep knowledge of this
architectonical typology and both, technic and graphic
materials, to survive in case of any of the Tower-houses
here gathered disappears.
