The working mechanism of the proposed structure is explained, and the design procedure is illustrated in order to obtain the geometrical demensions to furnish a desired electrical response at 5.5Ghz. The design is performed using commercial electromagnetic analysis software. This novel directional coupler presents some interesting and promising advantages when compared to previous wave couplers.
