%X [SPA] No me gustaría hablar ni del mar en general y ni de este Mediterráneo -tan irreconocible, tan indescifrable, tan poco comprensible-, sino de una pequeña parte de él. Me gustaría referirme a un accidente geológico, a una singularidad tectónica que ha convertido un corto tramo del mar en un enclave geográfico y paisajístico singular, único en el mundo. Me gustaría hablar de la ambigüedad que produce estar entre dos orillas muy cercanas y que recuerda también la distancia ambigua e indeterminada entre las franjas de tierra opuestas que separa y une. Me gustaría hablar sobre el Estrecho de Messina y Reggio Calabria cuyas aguas, inmóviles o tormentosas, han dado vida a nuestro idioma durante más de dos milenios y le han permitido persistir. Contar historias que a través de otras historias ocultan el secreto del origen de la palabra, del logos y de la arquitectura. [ITA] Non del mare in generale e non di questo Mediterraneo che vorrei dire -sempre piu irriconoscibile,
indecifrabile, non piu comprensibile e mortífero- . ma di una piccola parte di questo. E di un certo incidente geologico che vorrei parlare, di una singolarita tenonica che ha trasformato un breve tratto di mare in una singolarissima entita geografica e paesaggistica unica al mondo. E vorrei parlarne per quell'ambiguita che gli deriva nell'essere tra due sponde molto prossime che ne rendono incerto il dominio. E ricordare anche dell'ambigua e indeterminata distanza tra gli opposti lembi di terra che esso separa e unisce. del loro ambire con Fata Morgana a una desiderata cilla altra. Vorrei dire dello Stretto di Messina e Reggio Calabria le cui acque, corrusche o livide. immobili o tempestose. da piu di due millenni hanno dato origine e vita al nostro linguaggio e fornito ad esso il tempo per perdurare, per poter raccontare storie che attraverso alterne altre
storie dissimula il segreto del!' origine della parola, del lagos. e dell'architettura. [ENG] I do not wish to speak about the sea in general nor is it my intention to talk about the Mediterranean. Which is becoming more and more unrecognisable, incomprehensible and lugubrious. I want only to deal with a small part of this sea and to talk about a certain geological accident when the tectonics peculiar to this area transformed a small stretch of the sea into a geographical and panoramic entity, the likes of which cannot be found elsewhere in the world. I am particularly interested in its ambiguity, an ambiguity which arises from the fact that it lies between two shorelines whose proximity have created an uncertainty concerning who controls it. Furthermore, I would like to draw our attention to the ambiguous and indeterminate distance between these two strips of land which lace each other and which this stretch of water separates and unites. One rnust also not forget their yearning for another city, a desire which is reflected in the phenomenon known as the Fata Morgana. I am referring to the Straits of Messina and Reggio Calabria, the waters of which, be they sparkling or livid with anger, still or stormy have over the last two thousand years given birth and life to the spoken word. These waters have kept the spoken word alive so that it can be a vehicle for our myths. Myths, transmitted in the form of different stories. hide the origin of the word, of the logos and Architecture.
