B.V.DOSHI: Le Corbusier: A Personal Reading. [ENG] «On arriving in India, Le Corbusier, a keen observer, was fascinated by two contrasting objects one temporal and the other eternal: the 'charpoy' (india s bed) and the Himalayas. The bed is a simple object that is both economical and multiporpose. One can use it as a sunshade, sleep on it, divide a space with it or even store things underneath it, and draped with a cloth it makes for cheap shelter. Low-cost dwellings, standardized elements, mass production had been Corbusier's concerns. It is no Gonder that he found Duch objects fascinating».
