[ENG] Over the last four decades the substances used as refrigerants have evolved towards those ones which have been proved more ozone-layer and environmentally friendly. Some of the substances with the best characteristics in these matters and with suitable properties for their use in refrigeration have several issues which may be solved if we are able to cut down the amount of substance used. Minichannels heat exchangers, with a very limited internal volume due to their small diameter, reduce the amount of refrigerant needed significantly. Therefore, they must be developed, and their use generalized. After reviewing the related literature, we can see that most of the publications are focused on the characterisation of a two-phase flow in multiport tubes and its comparison with conventional monoport tubes, but there are only a few papers which study the performance of this equipment within a complete system. Besides, their use is widespread in the automobile sector, but not in the household one. Therefore, a facility has been built for the study of heating pumps at the Technical University of Cartagena. This facility has the necessary auxiliary systems to be able to supply a constant flow of water and air, either cool or hot, keeping their conditions steady. These auxiliary systems are connected to an air/water heat pump with a plate heat exchanger for the water side and a fin-and-tube one for the air side. The last is replaced with one of the same type but with a minichannels tube instead of a conventional tube. The heat pump is characterised with both finand-tube heat exchangers on heating mode and on cooling mode. Additionally, the system has been modelled with a software which allows the accurate definition of each element. After validating the model, the heat pump performance can be simulated in several working conditions which allows parametric studies. Besides, the simulation results include some parameters whose practical determination may be tricky such as the amount of refrigerant inside each component of the system. As a result of the works carried out, the minichannels heat exchangers technology is found suitable for domestic heat pumps. A detailed study of the performance of each element in different working conditions is provided to demonstrate that it has been verified that the performance is good enough while significantly cutting down the amount of refrigerant in the system. %K Máquinas y Motores Térmicos %K Intercambiadores de calor %K Refrigeración %K Capa de ozono %K Bomba de calor %K Ciencias Aplicadas %K Applied sciences %K Heat pump %K Ozone-layer %K Refrigeration %K 3313.26 Equipo de Refrigeración %~ GOEDOC, SUB GOETTINGEN
