%X [ESP] El óvalo en la arquitectura es una solución geométrica compleja que ha sido ampliamente analizada a lo largo de la historia. Sin embargo, la comparación de las fuentes escritas con el patrimonio construido muestra que teoría y práctica no siempre van de la mano. El estudio de los tratados confirma el conocimiento en momentos concretos de la historia, mientras que el análisis de los óvalos en arquitectura aporta datos sobre la práctica constructiva. Por ello, el presente trabajo analiza tres secciones ovales del Palacio de Carlos V comparando los resultados con los trazados de los tratados, para llegar a interesantes conclusiones estableciendo evidentes relaciones entre ambos. [ENG]  The oval in architecture is a complex geometric solution which has been widely discussed throughout history. However, comparing the written sources with the built heritage shows that theory and practice do not always go together. The study of the treaties confirms the knowledge in a specific time, while the analysis of ovals in architecture gives us data on the actual constructive practice. That is why this work analyses three oval sections of the Palace of Charles V comparing the results with the layouts in the treaties, in order to get interesting conclusions setting obvious connectiosn between them.
